
The Livingston Parish Library achieved a new milestone in 2024, reporting the system’s highest-ever number of eContent circulations in a single year.
The record set in 2024 blew past the previous mark, highlighting the escalating popularity of digital content at the local level.
From January – December 2024, Livingston Parish Library patrons totaled approximately 175,682 eContent circulations. That number is 18% higher than the previous record set in 2023 and an increase of 169% since 2019.
The Library’s eContent circulations accounted for 29% of all circulations in 2024.
Circulations for eContent include the following: eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, eMusic, and eVideos.
Last year, LPL patrons set single-year records for the most eBook, eAudiobook, and eVideo checkouts. The system also reported year-to-year increases for eMagazines and eMusic checkouts.
For the second consecutive year, the Library’s most popular digital offering was eAudiobooks, which have also reported the biggest surge in demand over the last five years. In 2024, the system reported 90,318 eAudiobook circulations – a rise of 156.9 percent since 2019.
With a library card, Livingston Parish residents of all ages and interests have 24/7 access to thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks. Patrons can browse, checkout and download thousands of titles, all from the comfort of home.
