Computer Classes

<strong>Computer Classes at LPL</strong>

Every month, the LPL offers a series of computer classes for patrons seeking a broader understanding of using computer programs. Classes range from basic to intermediate and cover a variety of topics. You can view this month’s computer class schedule by viewing our calendar or contacting your local branch.

<strong>Computer Basics</strong>

This class is for those that have little to no experience with computers. Turning on the computer, using the keyboard and mouse, and basic computer terms are covered.

<strong>Internet Basics</strong>

This class covers the basics of accessing and using the Internet. The student will learn how to open and use a web browser, how to read a URL, and how to navigate from website to website.

<strong>Intermediate Internet</strong>

This class covers more advanced Internet usage practices. Internet Basics is a prerequisite for this class.

<strong>Email Basics</strong>

This class teaches the student how to create an email account. Writing, sending, and receiving emails are all covered.

<strong>Intermediate Email</strong>

This class teaches more advanced email features. Email Basics is a prerequisite for this class.

<strong>Microsoft Word Basics</strong>

Microsoft Word is a commonly-used word processing program. Students will learn the basic features of Word and how to type and format documents.

<strong>Intermediate Microsoft Word</strong>

This class is for students that have completed Microsoft Word Basics. More advanced features of Word will be covered.

<strong>Microsoft Excel Basics</strong>

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program that is used to create invoices, ledgers, and other financial or mathematical data. This class will teach the student the basic features of Excel along with entering, sorting, and computing data.

<strong>Intermediate Microsoft Excel</strong>

This class is for students that have completed Microsoft Excel Basics. More advanced features of Excel will be covered.

<strong>Microsoft PowerPoint Basics</strong>

Microsoft PowerPoint is used to create slide shows and other slide-type presentations. Students will learn the basic features of PowerPoint such as creating slides, editing slide information, and playing a finished presentation.

<strong>Microsoft Publisher Basics</strong>

Microsoft Publisher is a desktop publishing program that’s used to create newsletters, brochures, banners, greeting cards, and other types of print media. The student will learn the basic features of Publisher along with general desktop publishing information.
