The Livingston Parish Library provides for the educational, informational, and recreational needs of patrons through a variety of materials, utilizing both conventional and electronic means.
COLLECTION
A collection of circulating non-fictionbooks covers many areas and subjects, including Small Business, Automobile Repair, Photography, Gardening, World War II history, Vietnam War History, Cooking, Computers, Literary Criticism, Louisiana History, and many more.
A collection of circulating Fictionbooks which include many genres: Mysteries, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Thrillers, Romance, Westerns and others.
A collection of more than 250 different magazines and newspapers, including: Home and Garden, Good Housekeeping, Discover, Motor Trends, etc.
A collection of Reference materials contains consumer magazines, buying guides, and automobile price guides.
The Library also offers access to on-line databases and e-learning resourses such as Mango Languages, Lynda.com, Antiques Reference Center, Newsbank, Career Library, Auto Repair Reference Center, etc.
LIvingston Parish Library offers more than one hundred public access computers for patrons to use. In addition the library offers free computer classes to the public.
The classes focus on the basic knowledge needed for using your home computer. Topics covered include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, E-mail and Internet. Please inquire at your local library for more information. Class summaries are listed below. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
Reference Services are available at each branch location.
Phoned reference questions will be answered with a callback as soon as staff is able to research the question asked.
Patrons are asked to please limit questions and try to visit a branch for assistance whenever possible.
In-house patrons will be given priority.
Second-hand research (phoned reference questions) may not be the best way to go if a grade or other important issue requires indepth research.
No guarantee can be given as to the timeliness of answers due to the unknown demands that may occur at any time in the branches.

Meeting Room Capacities as set forth by the Fire Marshal and other regulatory agencies:

Main Branch - Livingston 30 persons
Denham Springs-Walker Branch 100 persons
Watson Branch 75 persons
Albany-Springfield Branch 50 persons
South Branch 25 persons
The Livingston Parish Library Board of Control has set forth the following rules and regulations for the use of the meeting rooms in all branch locations of the Livingston Parish Library system. These guidelines are to be read and agreed upon by anyone/any group applying for reservation of any meeting room in the system before the applications will be accepted. Failure to uphold library policies may result in either termination or suspension of meeting room privileges.
Application for reservation is to be on the library-provided form. The application is to be filled out by the person(s) responsible for the meeting. Signature(s) on the application constitutes agreement to the rules as set forth by the library system.
All branches of the Livingston Parish Library have storytimes for children and toddlers.
