We are happy to announce a new electronic resource at the library!  Ancestry Library Edition brings the world’s most popular consumer online genealogy resource to the Livingston Parish Library patrons.  It’s an unprecedented online collection of over 4 billion individuals from North America, Europe, Australia, and more.

Answers await everyone—whether professional or hobbyist, expert or novice, genealogist, or historian—inside the more than 4,000 available databases. Here, you can unlock the story of you with sources like censuses, vital records, immigration records, family histories, military records, court and legal documents, directories, photos, maps, and more.

This resource is accessible from within the library network.  You can bring your laptop or sign in to use the workstations at the library.  The world of information is at your fingertips!

eBooks for e-readers (except Kindle) are finally here! The library is now offering access to 1600+ eBooks in PDF format though NetLibrary. This exciting FREE service will be available to patrons during regular library hours within the library as well as 24 hours, 7 days a week from any computer with an Internet connection! Enjoy the convenience of accessing a wide variety of digital books anytime, anyplace! Patrons must have a library card and a Netlibrary account to check out eBooks. Brainfuse offers live, on-demand online tutoring for students in grades three through college. Library card holders can get instant academic assistance from expert tutors throughout the week.  This service is available daily, from 3PM to midnight.

 

What is Brainfuse?
Brainfuse is a provider of one-to-one tutoring to students (grades 3-12), offering online tutoring in math, science, social studies, and English/language arts.

When can I get tutoring?
Tutoring is available from 3PM. to 12AM every day. With Brainfuse, students receive individual attention from certified tutors through a kid-friendly online classroom.

How do I access Brainfuse from my computer?

You must download software to use this service. Brainfuse QuickConnect is an easy-to-use application that resides on your computer desktop and allows you to connect to the Brainfuse virtual tutoring room.
